Earrings
Although earrings come in pairs, each earring is cut individually, by hand, at an estimated accuracy of plus or minus .005" (5/1000"). Earrings are cut, using a scroll saw and very fine metal piercing saw blades, from 22g Sterling Silver sheet material. The work is very labor intensive. Unless otherwise specified, earrings will come with a "French Wire" for pierced ears, including "guards" to keep the French wire from slipping out of the ear. Lever back attachments for pierced ears, and screw back attachments for unpierced ears, are also available and may be purchased by contacting us via e-mail, fax or regular mail. After cutting out the earring, we deburr it by sanding. We continue sanding each piece through 12,000 grit sandpaper (about 1 micron). Thereafter, we rinse each piece with mineral spirits using a brush to help remove the minute pieces of metal from the veining and sharp angles. This proceedure is followed by polishing each peice in a tumbler filled with stainless steel shot and soap water. The piece is rinsed in fresh water, dried and stamped in an inconspicuous place with our "KD" stamp. You'll know, therefore, that it was made by Winged Ox and that you have a pair of earrings of exceptional value.
We will cut any of our earring designs from 18k gold upon request. However, we do not stock any items in gold. If you wish to have us cut one of our designs in gold, please contact us. Click here to do so. Certain designs cut in gold are not refundable.
